Wild Cymru is a nature conservation organisation with a vision of a ‘Wales with more wildlife in more places, created by a society that intrinsically values the natural world’. We aim to achieve our vision through advocacy, research, species and habitat conservation as well as speaking out for wildlife in Wales.

Thanks to funding from supporters along with The Waterloo Foundation and the Garfield and Weston Foundation, Wild Cymru are advertising for a Species Officer to help oversee our flagship Marsh Fritillary Population Restoration Project in South Wales.

In August 2020, Wild Cymru were granted a license to collect a small number of the marsh fritillary caterpillars from the wild and rear in captivity to help restore a dwindling population in South Wales.

The restoration project is taking place in Llantrisant, South Wales and the caterpillars are currently being reared at the National Botanic Garden of Wales, Carmarthenshire. The next 12 months are crucial for project, both in terms of the population restoration, and our wider objectives of community engagement, promotion, research and fundraising.

We are looking for someone to join the Wild Cymru team to help oversee various aspects of the marsh fritillary population restoration project and its future development.

Application close at noon, Monday 12th April 2021
